Much literary research is based on the ideas from two diagrams that explain the phenomena of reading development -- Simple View of Reading and Scarbourough's Rope Model.
The National Reading Panel (NRP) develops and addresses the effectiveness of strategies used to teach children how to read. The NRP created the Big Five components of reading. The Science of Reading includes approaches to teaching reading that have been researched and proven effective.
